Preussisk blå – Fear is the mind killer – Original Oil Painting

"Ever since reading a survival handbook as a child, I have lived with the subconscious fear of nuclear war. On February 24, 2022, that distant anxiety turned into a stark reality. Following the war in Ukraine and studying nuclear doctrines led me into the absurd world of 'Mutually Assured Destruction' — where the ultimate guarantors of balance are nuclear submarines resting hundreds of meters deep in the dark oceans."

"In the autumn of 2022, I saw a photograph of sleeping sperm whales resting vertically in pods. Their silent, colossal forms eerily mirror those of nuclear submarines suspended in the depths — a biological, inevitable logic that felt poetically apt for exploring our collective fear of annihilation."

"As Frank Herbert so aptly described it in Dune: 'I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.'"
